PATRICK BATEMAN (Copenhagen) Yeah, we know, you might have given more notice to the blood and gore of the character from the Bret Easton Ellis novel, but one thing’s for sure: That Patrick Bateman knew how to party and it’s the same with this one. Already a household name when the Danish club scene exploded in the late nineties, Kenneth Broxgaard aka. DJ Patrick Bateman has been a key party player for almost two decades. He’s a prime son of a Danish techno/house scene that just keeps on getting better and better and he knows all the artistic effects down to the last beat, from vicious minimalism over luscious deep tech-house. He started spinning records in the early nineties with the early boy love for Inner City, Italian house and rave music and in the years that followed Patrick Bateman has covered huge amounts of space in an ever curious exploration of electronic party music. Musically, Detroit techno and Chicago house made a huge impact on Patrick Bateman in 95 and so did the looping mono techno from Sweden and the UK a few years later. But minimal techno and house have always taken up major parts of Bateman’s all-embracing record shelves. Since 99/00, he has been spinning minimal techno and house exclusively, German style and with the odd twist of deep house and old school classics thrown in for good measure. The last 8-9 years, Patrick Bateman has really made his mark. Touring everywhere in Denmark and many venues in Europe, US/Canada and Japan, Bateman’s remarkably energetic, spot free sets have presented the minimal techno/house vibe to an audience that’s moved from curious to responsive to exhilarated. In 2004, Bateman started the label Tic Tac Toe Records. The label is focusing on minimal house and techno, primarily from all the Danish talents, but also with international acts. The first 25 releases are already out, and have been played and charted by all the big DJ’s and the name ‘Tic Tac Toe’ has been getting a lot of attention internationally. In Denmark it has led to an award as best label in 2007 and a nomination for best label in 2008. In 2007 Connect Four saw the light. This is the sister label to TTT focusing on deeper sounds. Bateman has also started producing music, and here he follows his DJ trademark very closely and you can be sure you will hear a lot more from him during the coming years on this front too. In 2008 Bateman won the award as ‘best upfront DJ of the year’ at Danish DJ Awards, showing that he is still on forefront of things even after 14-15 years of DJ’ing. The guy may not be guzzling blood like his alter ego, but he’s a superb DJ. MIRO PAJIC (Berlin) Born and raised in Frankfurt (Germany), Miro started to get involved into techno back in 1991 With borrowed equipment (a TR-606 and an MC-202 + a little Spirit Folio mixer) The split up of 'techno house' into all the genres such as trance, hardcore, gabber, breakbeat etc and being stuck to the PCP clan, sucked him more and more into the harder sides of the techno aftermath. Miro started producing alot of records and became the second main producer next to Marc Acardipane (The Mover, Mescalinum United, Ace The Space etc), who's reputation was very high. Miro with his dozens of aliases has created some of the biggest hits in the hardcore sector and is definitely a real legend within that scene. With about 70 vinyl releases produced by Miro, the PCP era was closed near the millenium. Besides working on some harder productions it was getting a bit quiet until he moved to Berlin in 2006. His taste and influences have changed alot. Since then he hooked up with several Berlin and USA based artists and released on labels such as Klickhaus, Kiddaz.fm, By now he has found his very own and unique style within the Minimal Techno sector. Miro's productions are mainly nothing for beginners but mostly carry a deep heaviness and psychotic drug atmosphere which can be heard regulary on his own label Lazerslut since january 2008. After 15 years of being involved and knowing what it means to fight for his dreams, his name and reputation is on a rising path in this gigantic ocean of techno today! MATHIAS MESTENO (Copenhagen) Since starting his career as a scratch dj at the tender age of 13, Mathias has moved across the board, showcasing his skills and his passion for deep & driving, heavy house beats. Since the initial love affair with the sound of Chicago, Berlin and New York, Mathias has been trying to seek out the epetimy of jackin music, both as a Music fan, producer & as a dj. After having been working and releasing together with long time friend and fellow music lover Morten Fresh for many years, Mathias took the step towards a solo career, in the beginning of 2007 ,which so far has led to 3 solo releases on Upon You, Fumakilla & Tic Tac Toe + a bunch of remixes on various european labels. The story of Mathias Mesteño´s jackin adventures continues on the dancefloor….. DEEPGROOVE (Cocoon/Rekids) Over the course of 2009 a cluster of recordings for some of the most influential labels in the world (Cocoon, Rekids, Klang, Harthouse) has seen Deepgroove establish themselves as a force to be reckoned with amongst the legion hordes of globes techno devotees. Their partnership with legendary techno producer Jamie Anderson has led to a steady stream of innovative club destroying moments whilst they have continued to plow their own path through solo remixes and releases. Unstoppable rolling techno such as ‘Turbo’ for Cocoon Recordings have supplied suitably heavy ammunition for DJ’s like Sven Vath, Richie Hawtin, Carl Cox, Laurent Garnier and Dubfire to tackle their largest festival sets whilst deeper material like The Clock (for Rekids; with it’s subterranean Ben Clock remix) provide incendiary underground grooves to fire up sweatbox after hours and sleazy night spots the world over. JACOB HUSLEY (WYS/Always Fridays) Resident at Always Fridays and Wet Yourself as well as being signed to Kismet Recs, Jacob Husley will be working the AF crowd with his trademark bouncy techno, twisted electro and maximal minimal. JOHN & ON (Always Fridays) AF resident John & On spins a mix of bass heavy techno and late night wonky house |
