A relocation a few doors down the road hasn’t detracted from the appeal Mishmash has always had for party goers in and around Lavender Hill. The atmosphere at Mishmash is alternative and unpretentious but swerves away from being too grungy. This bar straddles stylish and alternative very well. The clientele is a mixed bunch of the RnB crowd and quirky alternative types, although the lack of any real cohesion means the bar can feel a bit disjointed at times. That said, people chat happily in their own groups, unpeturbed by the others in the bar.

The music at Mishmash varies from night to night from indie-rock and pop to dance. Fridays are Mashed with Kiss FM founder Gordan Mac and drinks are 2-for-1 all night and entry is free. Saturdays are Sabotage with resident DJ Paul Necklace and free entry before 10pm, £5 after.

The extensive and interesting drink list is certainly impressive. Quality ingredients are used to create unique concoctions with lots of crushed ice and fresh garnishes. The staff are happy to help you decide on one if you find it too hard to choose and will even make something up for you if you ask nicely. As well as all the classics, there are seven martinis alone, including a couple of interesting variations. The Lemon Vanilla Martini (Stolichnaya, vanilla liqueur, limoncello, Champagne) is especially refreshing and the Grapetini (Stolichnaya, Benedictine, fresh lemon juice, fresh grapes) plays on the emerging trend for grapes to be included in cocktails. Their short menu includes two interesting twists on the caipirinha in the form of the passion fruit and frangelico options.
